Amazing and lively. Makes you feel like you are traveling with Majeeb through the desert. The language is beautiful and heart touching. Couldn’t put it down until I finished the whole book.

Having just turned the last page of 'Goat Days' by Benyamin, I find myself deeply moved by its powerful portrayal of resilience and survival. The book brings to life the true story of Najeeb, a man entrapped in a life of forced labor on an isolated sheep farm in the middle of a desert. For two grueling years, Najeeb single-handedly tends to a herd of 700 goats, while being subjected to physical abuse, acute deprivation, and intense isolation. Such are the extremities of his experiences that he starts to perceive himself as merely another goat in the herd. In addition to the relentless hard labor and perpetual hunger, he is even deprived of the basic need for water to cleanse himself. This was the book I want to be read before I watch the movie and it came on time and more than the movie I liked the book and I will say the movie never justified to the book

This book made me cry out like a child at time also made me laugh out loud.The dream of an immigrant worker becomes a nightmare and a struggle to stay alive.The author has done an amazing job of saying the story in simple language.This is a book that will stay with you forever.

Benyamin has got a very simple and realistic way of story telling which is a drastic change from the otherwise exaggerated and imaginative style of many recent writers....Impressed with the narration of undoubtedly real experience of gulf malayali life.....

I found this book to be a average one, not exceptional or emotionally charged as many other reviewers have described. Several sections were long winded and tiring, making it a hard read at times. Overall, worth reading.
