Dear customer, Thank you for your question. Any real 3.7v 18650 batteries work. There is no requirment about mAh. The more mAh, the longer the car can run. For 18650, the mAh is about 3000mAh. Q: Can one set this up to use a solar power power bank instead of batteries?

I don't think so. The car uses some specialty batteries and you have to get the right type. I ordered mine from Ebay and Battery Junction. The instructions give the type. I cant remember what type they were.
