These do seem like high quality sorted large beans
These do seem like high quality sorted large beans. However, like any Kona coffee, the price is NOT justifiable. Kona is originally derived from Guatemalan beans. I've had much better luck, and taste, sourcing green beans from Guatemala online, at ONE FOURTH the price of these beans. As stated, this batch seems good, if plain jane vanilla coffee. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for green beans, maybe try some other countries while you are at it. Maybe some African countries along with the gold standard of central America.

Best cup of coffee I have ever made!
If you've ever gone to a nice hotel or restaurant and had coffee and wondered "why doesn't my coffee at home taste like this?" - its because its most likely freshly roasted. I am no expert on coffee roasting, but today I roasted batch of Blue Horse coffee - using a hot air popcorn maker. I have tried for years to get that "gourmet" coffee taste using french press, grinding my own beans, using pour-over - but as I have found out today, the taste comes from the quality and freshness of the roasted beans. My first batch was so much more delicious than any that I have made before. The complex layers of different flavors are so far beyond any of the other pre-roasted beans I have tried before (including the pre-roasted Blue Horse) that it was actually shocking. The bad news is that I don't know that I will be able to drink coffee from the big commercial coffee shops any more without thinking "my coffee at home is much better than this".I took a small amount (maybe 1/3 cup) of beans and put it into my popcorn maker for about 4-5 minutes (stirring frequently) and then let it cool in a strainer for about 10 minutes. I then ground the beans using a fairly fine grind and used a Hario V60 coffee dripper and it was the best coffee I have had in a long time. If you plan to use a popcorn popper - do a little research to make sure you get a recommended model (not one where the air rises out of the bottom - it needs to blow the beans around in a circle so the chaff doesn't burn).

Wow. Not at all like the Kona coffee that Starbucks would sell at 5 bucks a cup. Not sure why, I use a French Press and am veeeerry careful. Normally I'd say you get what you pay for, but not here I'm afraid. Just my opinion, though.

I love this
So the peaberry coffee tastes a little different from there regular coffee. I am not a coffee connosieur but I could notice the difference and it was very good. I would say it was a bit smoother and less bitter. Overall a great cup of coffee from these rare beans.Notice the company advertises Herbicide and Pesticide Free, NOT organic. I contacted the company to ask them what prevents them from getting their organic label. The biggest reason was cost. They felt consumers were more concerned with the Herbicides and Pesticides and less concerned about whether the lime they used was organic certified or not. The lime for example if they used the certified organic lime for their crops would raise the price of this coffee $7-9 a lb. Rather than obtain the organic seal and raise the price they have opted to go Herbicide and Pesticide free and keep the price down. I as a consumer can appreciate that stance. I also prefer organic processes but understand that even some organic processes can be just as dangerous as nonorganic. Also this coffee is Made In America and I, for one, try to buy American made products when I can and when its practical.

Exceptionally mild to wonderful
So you grind your own coffee at home? The next step to a perfect cup of coffee is to grind your freshly roasted beans, then brew. It takes me about 20-30 minutes to roast these in a skillet on a stovetop over medium heat (.25/lb. at a time). I prefer dark roast coffee and surprisingly these beans are not bitter at all! It's a bit strange drinking coffee without any bitterness. BHK states that it's because the coffee is hand-picked only when ripe.I was a bit concerned over the volume of beans in this one pound bag as it seemed much smaller than a pound bag of roasted beans, until I photographed the green and roasted beans side by side. (Please view my posted customer image) The beans plump (and pop!) during the roasting process.UPDATE: Yesterday I received my second pound and so I tried roasting the beans longer and darker. The beans range from brown to dark brown, with a hint of an oil sheen. I just brewed some and WOW! More flavor components have emerged, without bitterness, and I just had one of the best cups of coffee I can remember. For my next batch, I'll try a French roast.Enjoy!

Sorry, not worth it.
I'm on a diet, so I'm drinking coffee black. So I tried this stuff. Good, but, in my opinion, not worth the price.

Bold and rich, low acidity, and almost no bitterness. Quite possibly the best coffee I have ever had!
Coming from someone who regularly drinks Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, I decided to give this a shot. Boy howdy am I glad I did.The roasting of these beans is also perfect, a very nice medium roast, as I find dark roasts too bitter, and too acidic, and have lower caffeine. The price on this is far from exorbitant, especially when you realize that this comes from a single estate, and the fact the beans are all hand selected. This coffee is also very fresh, or at least the bag I got was that way. Placed my ground beans in my french press, poured water over, and the bloom almost raised over the side (reminded me of a beer head) waited 6 minutes and presto! Great coffeeIt would appear that I have finally at long last found my brand!

Green coffee beans
I bought these mainly to make my own green coffee bean pills...since I saw them on Dr.OZ, but since I don't have a proper grinder, I had a hard time doing it...and I didn't want to invest in one, since I wasn't going to always grind coffee beans. I'm not sure the store grinders would do the job, since they're not roasted. Didn't want to chance breaking it. But if you are looking for green coffee beans, this is a good brand and a great deal!
