Yes, unless you change the battery.

Q: can someone share how to Zero this?

Reset is .5 inch or 12.7mm. It will never read zero like standard calipers. Standard calipers jaws are able to close completely to read zero where as these calipers smallest reading is .5 inch or 12.7mm.
