Q: Does this speaker and mic perform ok for conference calls? (I'm looking for a reasonably priced option for a home office.)

The speaker part will definitely perform great. The microphone is not amazing and you do lack a secondary noise-canceling mic. But unless you plan on holding conference calls on a balcony or near a fan, it should do just fine.

Q: How would i connect this speaker to my stereo system which isnt Bluetooth ? Is there an adapter you can plug into your system to make it Bluetooth? .

The Oontz speakers can be connected to a laptop without bluetooth via the Aux-in jack using a 3.5mm audio cable

I haven't got an echo dot, but 1. the OontZ is supposed to be safe if left charging all the time. 2. I use it in a hall sometimes... its volume can cope. Amazing.
