Clarification about this DVD edition
Having received this dvd from the Amazon marketplace seller (super fast posting to me - thank you seller) I want to clarify about this DVD edition as there seems to be several different reviews each telling differing accounts of how many discs and how many episodes on each disc etc. This DVD which I received from the marketplace seller is a genuine dvd boxset (and I have to admit that I was hesitant about ordering in the first place as I was unsure if this was the genuine article as it is currently selling for around thirteen quid, including the postage, but I ordered it nevertheless thinking that Amazon would help me out if this turned out not to be a genuine dvd) containing FIVE discs. The first three discs follow all previous GOT boxset in that each disc contains TWO episodes per disc and each episode has an accompanying audio commentary. Episodes 1 and 2 are over fifty minutes long and episodes 3 and 4 are a little less than fifty minutes each. Episode 5 is over fifty minutes and episode 6 is over an hour long. Episode 7 (which is contained on disc four) is also over an hour long and is the concluding episode of this seven episode, season seven. Disc four also has an audio commentary for episode seven and also contains over ninety minutes of bonus material exploring how the production crew created season seven. Disc five is a bonus dvd featuring an animated feature (which I've not watched yet so can't comment on the worthiness of its inclusion) which supposedly gives us the background story of pre-GOT era. Finally, the plastic box is more flimsy than the other GOT's boxset which I own and maybe that's part of why this edition is somewhat cheaper? The outer cardboard sleeve is as sturdy as other GOT's boxset and the advertising on Amazon claims that the dvd's are multi-region but I'm unable to confirm this as it is not stated on the boxset itself. The discs all play fine on my region 2 dvd player.Hope this helps to clarify for those of you who are considering purchasing this particular dvd release of season seven. And as for reviewing Season Seven itself - it's already been said in the other reviews - it is stunning - yet another absolutely fantastic offering from HBO and another worthy season in the GOT saga! And now I am of course desperate for Season Eight!

A must-see watch. Ignore the TV-writers' mangling of established in-universe laws.
Ignore the TV writers' glaring liberties with George R.R. Martin's universe, and enjoy Season 7 anyway - watch it for the spectacle, amazing locations, long-awaited key moments, great costumes, brilliant acting, and for superb dialogue worthy of Martin himself. However, the TV episodes are now well ahead of the books but, although Mr Martin was consulted (and I hope he wrote the dialogue), the TV writers have gone their own way, to good effect but sometimes at the cost of plausibility. They've concentrated events from the usual ten episodes per Season into seven by so severely cutting to the chase that you often feel you're watching just a synopsis (but there's an 80-minute finale). Road and ship travel must be easier in Winter than in Summer! The TV writers have become lazy or too impatient to sustain the Ice & Fire universe's consistencies and coherence, and thus sacrifice much plausibility. They introduced in-universe rules in earlier Seasons that they flagrantly break in Season 7. Examples below. However, the TV writers were correct, dammit, because fans will watch the show anyway. It'll be interesting to see if anything but total praise is allowed here.SPOILERS AHEAD:Speeds and distances were established in earlier Seasons but in Season 7 we have "faster-than-light" ravens and dragons in Episode 6. A protagonist House has experienced strategists, but they never occupy a vital castle so the enemy can just walk in and take it (supported in dialogue too!). For more inconsistencies, see online (e.g. the main wikia) where critics and fans alike have written long lists.

The end is near!
It's topnotch storytelling again much like in the previous seasons! The production design is amazing and gets better and better as the seasons go by; I can only marvel and be mesmerized by the enormity of production and the countless hours spent by the creative people behind it to bring the story onscreen which, hopefully will be revealed and discussed in depth in the next season's blu-ray special features. The story pacing is just about right and didn't feel rushed like what the other reviewers were saying. Showrunners Benioff and Weiss who happen to be the writers as well didn't disappoint in giving tragic but well-deserved endings to some of the most hateful characters in television history. One can only guess how GRRM will top this and be much more creative in giving the long story arc a befitting conclusion in the much delayed book version (the 6th book is still unfinished to date and the 7th remains in limbo). It is a sad thing the series is drawing to a close. We will surely miss the characters who we come to love in the last seven years! Can't wait for the next Amazon exclusive GoT Season 8 BD set!

Trouble playing the Audio Commentaries
two minor quibbles. On all 3 main discs of my copy, each time you select "play with commentary" on the episode menu, it doesn't change to the commentary track, you have to switch it manually to listen to the commentaries (usually tracks 8 or 8 and 9 in the audio list, depending if that episode has one or two commentaries). Has anybody else had the same problem? Not too bothered by it, because it still works, but it's a pain in the ass to switch it manually every single time. The second quibble is an annoying trend that also see happening with other movies. The first track on the audio list is the dolby digital 5.1 by default, if you want to listen to the better quality dolby Atmos you have to select track 2 all the time.Of course, this season doesn't have 8 discs as stated above either. It's 3 main discs, plus 1 for conquest and rebellion, and (sometimes) a bonus disc on the front of the package.
