I ordered this for my niece who had her first child in August, so she'll be about 5 months old for this Christman present. So, the timing is right.This is a nice little critter. Very soft and fuzzy. It feels very nice against your face. The hoop on back is a natural piece to grab and the legs and feet bounce around when you shake the hoop. The little colored stars on the hoop are close to where you grab so they attract attention. They spin easily and like the other plastic items are good for teething.The music is activated by a small button on the side. In my opinion it's a little hard to push for small fingers. And the sound is very low. So, so grades for the music.This a nicely made very friendly Giraffe. It has a good size and weight for a young child, and I really like the colors. When you pick it up all the tactile pieces move easily by that I mean the legs, rattles, hoop on back and the sliding stars. It's all close up and easy to reach. These toys have a short life and are quickly outgrown but during that time, this will be a fun one to have and think will be a favorite. I really like it.

Nice and soft baby giraffe toy with many ways for little fingers to grab on and lots of things to move. Lightweight and easy to handle. It's a decent size, but doesn't take up much room in a diaper bag. Some toys, oddly enough, seem to snarl with furrowed brows, but not here. Mr. Giraffe has a cute appealing happy face. Rattles are colourful, adding visual interest along with the sound. A verse of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" plays when the body is squeezed a certain way, and there's no way to cut the song short. The felt bits sticking out of the top (the "ossicones" and hair tuft) are made of felt, and I worry with moisture and chewing they may come off and pose a choking hazard, so I cut them off. It doesn't affect the function of this versatile toy, and I feel more comfortable in its safety with them gone.

A soft and pleasant on touch toy giraffe. Brightly colored, with two little transparent rattles that are not too loud, and three plastic pieces looking like cogs, traveling along a thin handle. When squeezed, it plays "now I know my ABC" in a quiet and gentle manner. Looks and sounds very appropriate for little babies.

This is a sweet toy. It features squeaking noises in its feet when squeezed, a Twinkle Twinkle song when tummy is pushed, and rattling sounds when it is moved about. Unfortunately, there really isn't very much of a crinkly sound associated with the ears as advertised. They are far too small to really hear anything at all. It allows for auditory development with its varied sounds, as well as motor skills development once baby discovers that it must push, squeeze, grasp and move about. Colours are vibrant. All in all, it is stimulating and sure to keep baby entertained. I do not necessarily see this best suited to a newborn since babies need black and white at that stage of development. I would suggest 3 months and up. It would make for a great on-the-go toy but does not come with something by which to latch onto a stroller or diaper bag. It is titled with word teether and I don't really see that at all. The ad highlights teether beads along the handle. Bear in mind these beads are far too hard - rock solid. Had they been silicone that would have been a different story altogether. My other main concern rests with the two felt pieces up top the head of the giraffe. They are small and soft. Surely, if they are sucked and moistened enough, there exists that rare possibility that they could pose a choking hazard. I would cut and do away with them altogether. Therefore, I cannot say with confidence that this is a giftable toy given this drawback. The giraffe comes boxed but box makes no mention of its varied components. In addition, the entire back side of the box is covered with manufacturer information - Chinese address, Chinese name, Chinese province, etc. as well as the Made in China label in big bold letters. I would necessarily do away with the box as well. Given my concerns about the non-existent crinkle component indicative of a good sensory baby toy, lack of giftable box, the felt horns posing a risk, and the hard teether beads which are not teethers at all, I feel inclined to rate this 3 stars. Description is pretty much misleading and would therefore, be uncomfortable gifting anyway.

It can be used as a rattle because it's easy to grip, there is some crinkle noise to it, some shaking noise in the feet, moving shapes and music. It's the perfect size for on the go or to attach to the baby car seat or stroller to keep them occupied while on the go. The vibrant colors of the giraffe catch the attention of the little ones right away. Very cute and versatile toy.
