Not compatible with Manfroto quick release plate
I bought this intending to use it with the 501 style base plate but it didn’t fit, this unit is longer that the 501 plate so when the 501 is attached to this rig you only get one point of contact rather than two. This is a pretty significant design miss as there is an obvious and simple modification they could have done to make it work. Other than that it seems well made.

Very disappointing
I recently purchased a long heavy lens (sigma 18-35) and am planning on buying a battery plate. I was disappointed to find that when I moved my rods forward to make room for the rods that will be supporting the battery plate, that the screw clamp on the right side of the from rod holder when fully tightened down doesn't close the gap enough to hold the rod in place. This pretty much makes this unit useless for what I need to do with it. I will now be forced to buy a new rod holder bracket and hope that it works with the rest of the unit. BUMMER!

Doesn’t secure
Doesn’t really tighten all the way… also doesn’t really work with cameras with cages.
